Mass ”Demonetisation” of Youtube Channels is Getting Scary
How would you feel if your boss called you today and said you were fired from work after working for the company for many years. You would be mad right? How about if you found out that none of your company executives were responsible for your removal rather you were cut off because an AI system decided you were no longer important to the company? This has been the story of many youtubers recently.
Saying ”I am a youtuber” use not be cool until about 10 years ago. Every business nowadays has a youtube channel promoting and advertising products. Many people hopped on youtube when it became so trendy and I remember people posting their success stories of how they were being paid large sums of money on youtube.
Fast forward today, many creators are beginning to regret hopping unto youtube and putting all their eggs in one basket. From around 2023, I noticed youtube becoming more strict on the type of content they were going to accept on their platform. Channels that use to be monetised on youtube started getting demonetised when youtube begun rolling in their new policies.
Now as I write this article, youtube’s new policies concerning ”AI Slop”, inauthentic content and re-use content have hit a lot of creators reuslting in many people doubting if youtube is actually worth it in the long run. It will surprise you the kind of new things that can get your channel demonetised.
Check the list:
HIdden things that could get you demonetised
- Excessive use of AI to mass produce low educational value content.
- Getting one of your youtube channels demonetised can result in your other channels facing the same fate if they are connected to the same adsense account.
- Scraping content from online articles and narrating them online without adding any significant value.
- Any form of content considered to have been done with the lowest of effort.
- Accidental impersonation.
Who is responsible for the demonetisation?
It will surprise you to know that the same AI that has forced youtube’s hand to crack the whip on creators has been assigned the responsibility of kicking out channels from the youtube partner program. Ironic right? Using a bad guy to bully another bad guy?
Actually that seemed like a diabolic brilliant idea until the AI system started having ideas of its own and begun punishing innocent channels for basically just existing.
This has led to a huge public outcry of creators blaming youtube for failing to train their AI system in making the right decisions when it comes to demonetising ar allowing a channel to earn.
Most youtube gurus are snakes
95% of youtube gurus – many of them are just in for the money without considering your well being as a creator in mind. I witnessed a famous youtube guru still promoting the use of AI in generating youtube videos. The begging question is, why is this traitor not using the said tool to generate his youtube videos but rather using a talking head style video? Don.t fall for this!
I’m particularly pissed off at the ones who are desperately trying to teach others how to use AI tools to generate cinematic videos to post on their channels. These videos are so risky and have caused the downfall of many innocent genuine creators.
Another question is, why do these gurus continue to promote these products? Its because, somehow talking about AI and AI tools on youtube fetches a large sum of ad revenue.
Don’t get me wrong, AI is here to stay but the least you can do as a youtube educator is to warn people not to post these AI videos without any significant human input. In fact, in this current state of AI, the so called faceless channels have suffered most.
I wouldn’t advise any creator to make a faceless youtube channel but if you insist, know what you are doing. Honestly, having your beautiful face in your videos adds an extra layer of protection against inauthentic content, low effort videos, impersonation and what not.
Final Advice To Youtubers
- I wouldn’t advise you to start a reaction channel but if you must do that, be extra careful when using other people’s content and know how to do this without running into problems of re-use content.
- To be on the safe side, try to show your face somehow often in your videos. It adds a human touch to your videos. If you really have to hide your identity, there are ways of revealing there is a real person behind the channel. Example, you could disguise your face but show other parts of your body.
- One channel, one email and one adsense account. This way when one channel is demonetised, it won’t affect the other ones.
- Treat youtube as a business and learn how to survive on youtube without depending on adsense. In this instance, if your channel is kicked out of ad revenue, there wont be any cause for alarm because you can earn earn from other sources – particularly from brand sponsorships.
- Using real images of copyrighted characters from big movie and game production companies Eg. Disney, nintendo etc.
- Never give up in your content making journey. You’ve got this!
